  1. Laura, I believe that you need material for your latest project. I’m 85 years old, have two replacement knees, a metal bar in my back but train very hard in a gym twice a week with the best personal trainer in Europe (he says the world!). Happy to talk to you.   3. Hi Laura,
    I was reading an article on the BBC news website earlier and thought you might like meet and possibly photograph my father as part of your project?…He is a very proud Welshman living in Derbyshire!…He used to be an art teacher then turned his hobby of pyrography (the art of burning designs into wood with a soldering iron) in his livelihood.
    He has previously been awarded a Churchill Scholarship for designing toys for the blind and most recently received the Shackleton Scholarship and travelled to The Falklands.
    He still works full time burning wood!…He also runs an antique quiz business with my mother too, he’s always on the go!
    He turns 80 on 11th July…don’t think he’s that fussed about birthdays though…and with this covid situation it’ll probably just be a small celebration in the garden!

      Many thanks for your message. I photographed your dad years ago when I worked for the Derby Telegraph (I maybe took the picture on his website?) – I recognise him! – a very lovely man. Please pass on my best wishes. I’ve also just got a Churchill Scholarship!

      I’m currently reading through all messages and will be in touch with everyone when I’m in a position to plan further ahead.

  5. Good afternoon, I saw an item about you and your work on the internet and noticed that you were looking for people over 80.
    I happen to fall into that category, a retired farmer and business man living in Gloucestershire. I grow most of my own vegetables on my 30 acre small farm and I also own and operate,as pilot an ex Swiss helicopter Which I keep at home.l Would be happy to talk to you.
